Children dressed in colorful clothes form a large figure eight on the ground in front of the kindergarten. The remarkable 8th certification of the “Stiftung Kinder forschen” is a testament to the sustainability with which everyday matters are explored at the Martin Luther Kindergarten in Weingarten. The project for the 8th re-certification was “The Fire Department.” In addition to child-friendly activities related to fire, its dangers, but also its benefits (like grilling sausages!), the focus was, of course, also on the fire department’s technology, special protective clothing, and vehicles. All of this could be seen “in person” and even touched during a visit to the Weingarten fire station. We ourselves were also involved and discovered during a visit to the kindergarten with the children why a candle can be extinguished using an effervescent tablet dissolved in water (spoiler: dissolving it produces carbon dioxide, which is heavier than air and can therefore be “poured” from the glass onto the candle to extinguish the flame).

Since 2009, we have been supporting the Martin Luther Kindergarten in Weingarten in being a ‘House of Little Researchers.’ Being continuously involved, working on one or two new research projects each year, and constantly sparking the spirit of inquiry in the children with new ideas requires a lot of dedication from the educators, which we are happy to support.

We are pleased that we have maintained such a long-standing partnership with the Martin Luther Kindergarten and can support the educators’ high level of commitment. The project for this kindergarten year is called ‘The Bee.’ We provide teaching materials on the life cycle of the bee and handed them over during a, as always, very lively session at the kindergarten.
