We are very pleased to have successfully launched another partnership in the field of education: Since February, as part of the Wissensfabrik initiative, we have been officially supporting the Schule am Martinsberg in Weingarten with technology-focused instruction in elementary school. Through its “KiTec” project, the Wissensfabrik not only offers training and pedagogical support for teachers who wish to incorporate technical topics into their lessons, but also provides material and tool kits. The tools are designed for children’s hands and are of solid quality, ensuring they can be used long-term in the classroom and during project days.
In early February, the time had come: we were able to present the school with tools and materials during a ceremony. The handover was accompanied by fun and rousing songs performed by the school choir; afterward, the school administration invited us to a small breakfast, where everyone involved got to know each other even better and further strengthened our collaboration. The materials and tools will be used for the first time during the upcoming project days.
During a joint training session that preceded the partnership, we and three teachers from the Martinsberg School were able to see for ourselves both the quality of the tools and materials and the high educational standard of the accompanying documents and instructions.
By the end of the training day, we had built a vehicle, a tower, and a bridge, and proudly presented each one to the other teams. We are therefore very excited to see what ideas the children come up with and what kinds of structures they will attempt to build.
The opportunity to collaborate with a local elementary school on the topic of technology through the Wissensfabrik wonderfully complements our existing commitment to education, which includes an educational partnership with the Weingarten Secondary School and support for the Martin Luther Kindergarten on science-related topics through the “Children Explore” Foundation. We are proud that our civic engagement helps make the educational landscape at our Weingarten location a little more diverse.
