On June 27, 2025, the World Day of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) once again put the spotlight on the key role played by these companies. Initiated by the United Nations (UN), this day has been recognizing the contribution of SMEs to sustainable economic development, job creation and the promotion of innovation worldwide since 2017.
According to the UN, SMEs make up over 90% of all companies worldwide and are responsible for around 70% of all jobs. They are considered the backbone of the economy – not only in developing countries, but also in industrialized nations such as Germany. SMEs form the link between the global economy and regional roots. They stand for entrepreneurial responsibility, innovation, flexibility and job security.
The strengths of SMEs are particularly evident in times of economic and geopolitical uncertainty: secure jobs, long-term thinking and local investment. The UN also emphasizes the role of SMEs in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly with regard to economic, environmental and social responsibility.
At E.P. Elektro-Projekt, we are proud to be part of this movement. Our long-standing commitment to quality, customer proximity and responsibility is reflected not only in our products and services – but also in our contribution to a vibrant, sustainable economy and a society worth living in. We are not just celebrating the day, but an attitude: Mittelstand means shaping the future.
